According to recent records, there are 9222 species of plants growing in Turkey, and some of them are used as medical plants. There are more then 700 kinds of Heracleum L. (Umbelliferae) species in the world. This species is represented by 22 taxons (17 kinds) in Turkey, and 7 of them are endemic taxons. In this study, essencial oils were extracted from the leafs of 5 endemic taxons, and their antimicrobial activities were tested against such bacteria and fungus as Shigella sp., Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Escherichia coli ATCC11229, Enterococcus faecalis ATCC 29212, Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615, Candida krusei ATCC 6258, Candida albicans ATCC 90028 and Candida albicans ATCC 8459581.
