ABSTRACT
DETERMINATION OF THE DEFORMATION AND THE MATERIAL LOSS ON THE MOLDBOARD PLOUGH BLADES USING THE IMAGE PROCESSING METHOD
The quality of the soil tillage and seedbed preparation depends on how well tillage equipment is designed and its purposed function. However, the abrasion and the deformation on tillage equipment are important factors that effect work quality in undesirable way. The deformed tillage tines and moulboard plough blades causes the soil to shift and to increase soil deformation energy as well as the tillage expenses.
In this study, a three point hitch moulboard plough which has two units with trapezoid blades is used in 60 da. The amount of deformation on material loss from the plow blades were determined by using the image processing and weight loss determination together with the planimeter measurements. The Global Lab Image 2 Streamline software is used as image processing purposes. The mean material loss is determined as 33,65 g per dekar as the result of the weight measurement of the moulboard blades. The mean material loss is determined as 61,62 cm 2 as the result of the image processing measurement of the moulboard blades. The mean material loss is determined as 61,8 cm 2 as the result of the planimeter measurement of the moulboard blades. The deformation occurred on the front blade more than the deformation and the weight loss on the back blade. It was found that the soil texture and the compaction had a great effect on the material deformation of the blades. This result is also demonstrated by using the image processing.
