The antibacterial activity of the chloroform, acetone and ethanol extracts obtained from the aerial parts of Sideritis hololeuca Boiss.& Heldr. apud Bentham and Sideritis libanotica subsp. violascens (endemic species) were investigated using the disc diffusion method against 14 different bacteria [8 Gram positive (Bacillus cereus ATCC 14579, Bacillus subtilis B RSHMB, Listeria monocytogenes tip 2 NCTC 5348, Micrococcus luteus LA 2971, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 29740, Streptococcus mutans NCTC 10449, Streptococcus pneumoniae ATCC 6305 and Streptococcus pyogenes ATCC 19615) and 6 Gram negative (Escherichia coli ATCC
